MKELive and ITP Celebrate “The Wave Has Been Saved!” for November LinkedIn-Milwaukee Event

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

(MILWAUKEE, WI) It’s time for a soccer celebration.

On November 2nd, Information Technology Professionals (ITP) will join MKELive in celebrating “The Wave Has Been Saved!” during LinkedIn Live-Milwaukee at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wauwatosa.

“It’s an honor for us to help launch the newest season of America’s longest-running professional soccer franchise,” said Katie Felten, president MKE Live. “LinkedIn Live-Milwaukee is a great group to help the Wave kick-off their 2009-2010 season.”

Some Milwaukee Wave players and front office personnel will attend the November LinkedIn Live-Milwaukee event, and speak to the audience regarding the team’s upcoming season, new league and new management. Wave merchandise and other items will also be raffled off during the event.

The November LinkedIn Live-Milwaukee event is sponsored by ITP, a strong supporter of the Milwaukee Wave. “We are excited that the team will continue to be part of our community,” said Joe Ulm, president of ITP.  “The Wave is vital to the local economy and serves as a role model to our youth.  It would have been a huge loss if they were no longer here in Milwaukee.”

MKELive and ITP’s “The Wave Has Been Saved!” LinkedIn Live-Milwaukee event will be held on Monday, November 2nd from 5:30-8:30 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wauwatosa (located at 10499 Innovation Drive, Wauwatosa, WI 53226). Networkers are encouraged to pre-register.

As of early this morning, LinkedIn has 50 million users worldwide and we’re growing that figure at roughly one new member per second.  When LinkedIn launched in 2003, it took 477 days — almost a year and four months — to reach our first million members. This last million took only 12 days. read more

Time to give back

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

I came across this video the other day and I wanted to share this video with you because I have have been a Kiva lender for over a year now and it has been a great way for me to give back. So watch the video below and if it makes sense take a moment to give back. You can even join the mkelive team.

How Kiva Works
Choose an Entrepreneur, Lend, Get Repaid

1) Lenders like you browse profiles of entrepreneurs in need, and choose someone to lend to. When they lend, using PayPal or their credit cards, Kiva collects the funds and then passes them along to one of our microfinance partners worldwide.

2) Kiva’s microfinance partners distribute the loan funds to the selected entrepreneur. Often, our partners also provide training and other assistance to maximize the entrepreneur’s chances of success.

3) Over time, the entrepreneur repays their loan. Repayment and other updates are posted on Kiva and emailed to lenders who wish to receive them.

4) When lenders get their money back, they can re-lend to someone else in need, donate their funds to Kiva (to cover operational expenses), or withdraw their funds.
