Making Sense of Social Media at a Soccer Game

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

(MILWAUKEE, WI) If you are struggling with managing your many social media accounts, than this Milwaukee Wave game is for you.

(“Say what? That makes as much sense as tweeting my LinkedIn update onto Youtube.”)

Hang in there. On Sunday March 7th, the Milwaukee Wave will host an excusive meeting for local marketing professionals prior to its 2:00 game against the Rockford Rampage. The meeting will feature the expertise of Jason Weaver, a nationally recognized social media expert and the founder of Sway, a social media company based in Madison.

Weaver will discuss different user-friendly strategies and tools available to marketing professionals that allow them to efficiently manage the ever-expanding options associated with social media. Attendees will have the chance to meet with Weaver both after the meeting and during the Wave game, as well as network with each other and share their thoughts regarding.

“If you feel challenged in managing and keeping up with all of the social media options that are out there, this is the meeting for you,” said Katie Felten, president MKE Live. “This isn’t for people who want to learn how to use a particular element of social media. This is for the pros that are out there who really understand social media and want to manipulate these tools into successful, measurable results.”

The meeting will take place at 1:00 in the media room of the US Cellular Arena. Only 40 spaces are available. The cost is just $20, which includes a “Party Suite” ticket to the game. Snacks and a cash bar will also be available within the suite.

Tickets for the meeting (including the game) can only be purchased through www.mkelive.com/calendar.

For more information on this exclusive event call Katie Felten at (262) 227-0772.

MKELive Will “Ignite” Business Passion and Creativity for March LinkedIn-Milwaukee Event

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

(MILWAUKEE, WI) This is the big one.

On Monday, March 1st, MKELive and LinkedIn-Milwaukee will literally link thousands of entrepreneurs, technologists, “do-it-yourselfers,” creative professionals, and enthusiastic knowledge-seekers from around the world for an evening that is a unique blend of networking, information, and fun.

LinkedIn-Milwaukee will participate in Global Ignite Week (March 1-5, 2010), when more than 50 Ignite meetings will take place in cities around the world. Ignite meetings are comprised of talks that are exactly five minutes long, where presenters share their personal and professional passions that fit within the Ignite motto: “Enlighten us, but make it quick.”

Like other meetings throughout the week, LinkedIn-Milwaukee’s Ignite will stream live video during the event. Those videos will be archived on the new Ignite video site that is being launched in conjunction with the week-long event. At least 500 five-minute session videos will be available on the new site when it debuts.

“This is an opportunity for local business professionals to gain different entrepreneurial perspectives from around the nation and around the world,” said Katie Felten, president MKE Live. “People who attend will have the chance to see how business owners from different regions and cultures approach and share the same dream of owning successful businesses.”

Started by Brady Forrest, Technology Evangelist for O’Reilly Media, and Bre Pettis of Etsy.com, formerly of MAKE Magazine, Ignite was inspired by Pecha Kucha Nights, where speakers are given 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds, giving each speaker 6 minutes and 40 seconds of fame. The first Ignite took place in Seattle in 2006, and since then the event has become an international phenomenon, with gatherings in Helsinki, Finland; Paris, France; New York, New York; and many other locations.

The March MKELive LinkedIn-Milwaukee event will be held on Monday, March 1st from 5:30-8:30 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wauwatosa (located at 10499 Innovation Drive, Wauwatosa, WI 53226).
