For 7 months I was wandering around my job search on the typical sites: Careerbuilder, Monster, Ladders, etc. I made the fateful choice one day to send an introduction to Link Up Milwaukee and it hit instantly (this sounds like cheesy ad copy, but it’s true). I was contacted by my soon-to-be employer who was in the network — he had my LinkedIn profile printed out and in front of him during my interview — and I was hired within two weeks time.

Seriously, I recommend that everyone use their local networking opportunities and LinkedIn to find jobs. It’s the best resource because it offered the most personal responsiveness.
